Battleground Polls: Could Obama Lose the Popular Vote but Win the Election?-George W. Bush did it in 2000. So did John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison. Could President Obama be next? It's not often that a presidential candidate wins the election while losing the popular vote, but polling suggests it could happen again in 2012 if the race tightens just a bit.http://abcn.ws/VcWgrJ (Chris Good)
Some headlines to note:
1. CBO says 6 million will pay the fine John Roberts dubbed a tax instead of buying health insurance.
From the AP – "The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are significantly higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed. The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected. The difference — 2 million people— represents a 50 percent increase. That's still only a sliver of the population, given that more than 150 million people currently are covered by employer plans. Nonetheless, in his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000."

Romney's New Line - It's not about who LIKES the poor. It's about who can help them - From Emily Friedman: A fiery Mitt Romney addressed supporters in Atlanta -
"The question of this campaign is not who cares about the poor and the middle class," said Romney during a fundraising event at an Atlanta hotel.
"I do. He does," Romney continued, a reference to himself and to President Obama.
"The question is who can help the poor and the middle class," he said. "I can. He can't."
Romney has not backed away from the comments he made at the fundraiser, saying it's a message he will continue to carry forth, turning it into a talking point on the campaign trail.
"Do you believe in a government centered society that provides more and more benefits or do you believe instead in a free enterprise society where people are able to pursue their dreams. I believe the latter will help more people get good jobs." http://abcn.ws/PBmaTi

The Attack on Benghazi and the Hatch Act — Today's Q's for O's WH — 9/19/2012-TAPPER: In the wake of the attacks in Benghazi, the Pentagon and the State Department both made statements they then had to correct, the Pentagon involving whether or not there were Marines at the embassy in Tripoli — there were not — and the State Department regarding the presence of security firms at the Benghazi compound. Why was there such confusion? And is the White House or anyone conducting any sort of internal investigation into what went wrong? http://abcn.ws/Rx5evD (Jake Tapper)
